With spending about $80 you can buy yourself 54 highly acclaimed Sega Genisis games, two controllers and a mini system that hooks up to your tv. The Genisis comes in a small box and the system has a moving volume leveler and an actual functioning cartridge door that opens and closes. The system connects to your television with an HDMI cable and gets power through a standard Micro USB power adapter. The two controllers connect via USB connection. The controller’s cords longer than the NES mini, but it still should be longer with it being only 6 feet long. The controllers look just how they did in the 90’s. Very simple design and easy to remember the buttons with it being 3 and not 300 like controllers nowadays.
One change that they learned from the previous mini versions is they added a home button. All you have to do is hold the start button and you will get an option to save your place in the game then head back to the game selection screen. The mini has a language option as well so no matter what region you want to play in it will have an authentic UI design. Sega got M2 a Japanese game developer to help based on their experience with playing emulated games and the belief that this mini-plays very much like the original game. The system has three backgrounds to fill your television. There is a sonic themed, black edges and a retro type of pattern that could be displayed. The controllers that come with the system are three button ones, but you can purchase the later six-button ones. Depending on what region you have selected the box art changes to what it would truly look like so that can give you some knowledge on all types of box art.
