The Razr is the second foldable device released shortly after the Galaxy fold and Motorola is already working on its successor dubbed the Razor 2020. Seems like Motorola learned from Samsungs flaws from there Galaxy Fold smartphone and built from it. The device is made out of stainless steel and 3d gorilla glass and It also has a zero-gap hinge that keeps dust and debris from getting under the hinge. Motorolla even takes it a step further than the galaxy fold and made it water-resistant. The device almost the exact same thickness and height as the original 2004 razer, but it was made wider for a bigger screen size. It has two screens on the Razr a 6.2in screen on the inside and a 2.7 quick view display that handles notifications, media playback and even can be used as a selfie camera so you don’t have to open your device up to take a pic. Phone calls can be made with the device open or closed and the audio sounds pretty great on both ends of the call. To end the phone call you can just close the phone so it gives you that satisfying feel people once had of ending calls with a flip phone. To try to give their purchasers peace of mind Motorola Has free replacements within the first year and $300 out of warranty replacement compared to $600 to repair the Samsung fold which sounds like a good risk and can be appealing to try out new tech.
The new 2020 Razr has had a couple of rumors being put out. Based on a patent filed seems to suggest the device will have an in-screen fingerprint scanner, as opposed to the physical one present in the Razr 2019. The Motorola Razr 2020 has another patent that suggests it will also be moddable, much like the Moto Z series. The patent shows a camera mod clipped onto the top of the Motorola Razr 2, as well as another mod attached at the fold which there isn’t any info on the function yet. The price isn’t yet known, but the original cost $1,500 when it was released and depending on upgrades the price can be more, less or even stay the same, but with it also linked to have eight sensors along the side of the device, allowing you to use gestures and access shortcuts whether the phone is open or closed might make me lean towards a slight increase in price.
